The Fijian Women's Society
Na I SoqosoqoVamkamarama I Taukei

The Fijian Women's Society, Na I SoqosoqoVamkamarama I Taukei, comprises all indigenous Fijian women over age 16 and was formed in 1924.

General Secretary Adi Finau advises the Society would be pleased to receive and distribute donations of:

Cloth Nappies and pins/closures
New nappies are expensive, so people buy a few disposables at a time. The disposables end up in village rubbish dumps, and cost lots over the life of the child.
Hand sewing needles and thread
You can't repair clothes without them!
Sewing machines and tables
Cooking utensils
Linen
Water tanks
Bras (of course)
Swimming costumes
Women stand in the ocean and fish with hand lines, or dive for octopus and beche de mere.

Items may be posted directly to Soqosoqo Vakamarama, if it suits you, or forwarded to Uplift for shipping.

At present a letter or parcel can take 20 days between Melbourne and Suva.
